Transformational Writing Coaching Insight #7: Ninety-Five Percent Of Writing Is Just Showing Up

Image
Ninety-five percent of writing is just showing up. If I were to ask you why you haven’t written a book, I’m guessing the most common answer would be that there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day. There are people with children, businesses, extended families, and any other life picture you can imagine. Yet, they have published authors who had the same busy life you do, and they were able to write their book. What’s the difference? I believe that the fundamental difference is how much you value what you have to say. And that stems from how you value yourself. If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of anyone else. So, make yourself your highest priority. Schedule an hour a day when you do nothing but sit down to write. Block the time out in your calendar. Let the people in your life know that it’s a sacred time for you. And don’t give in to the pressure that you will surely feel when you are making changes to the forces that keep you from doing wha...

The Gospel of Writing According to MJ, Chapter Six – Transformational writing coach

Push Past Your Insecurities and Keep Moving Your Pen! Being a Transformational Writing coach, I can say that writing is about being courageous. Talent plays a role, but it is a small part. It takes a willingness to let people see who you really are. Determination is the key. After many suggestions over the years, I finally arranged to work with a channeler. I had glimpses through the years of what I call my Council of 12, a group of ascended masters in spirit form guiding me through the perils of life’s choices. I’ve found that when I pay attention to their voices, my life proceeds with ease. When I stop listening, trouble follows. A specific set of messages had started to appear frequently, and although I resisted them, I was also drawn to find out why I was receiving them. Thus, I arranged a Transformational writing coaching session. During the transformational writing coaching session, I was told that I must begin to make all of my choices from openness and jo...

The Gospel Of Writing According To MJ, Chapter Five – Transformational Writing Author

Hold On To Your Vision   This gospel might seem to be in direct conflict with Gospel Four, letting go of expectations. However, there is a distinct difference between expectation and vision. Let me explain. An expectation is a limited view of how something will unfold. When we place an expectation on something, we shut off our ability to see other possibilities, and so may miss an important ingredient because we are no longer opening our mind to other options. Meanwhile, imagination is the basis of a vision. But as you begin to implement the vision, systems and skills take over. A vision develops by  becoming  specific but starts as  inspiration . When you take the first step, all the steps after that acknowledge and relate to that first step. Attaining your vision is a progression of decreasing possibilities. Each step toward the goal reduces future options by converting one – and only one – possibility into reality. A finished piece is the fusion of vision w...

The Gospel Of Writing According To MJ, Chapter Four- Stream Of Consciousness Writing

Let Go of Expectations. Nothing turns out in the writing process as you expect. That’s the journey. That’s the excitement. That’s the joy of writing. The trick is to let our unconscious take us where we go while we move out of its way. This process is true of all creating. When my authors expect a specific result, their writing is labored. I was working with a new author on the book, Creative Intelligence, another book in The Guide to Getting It collaborative book series “Awaken Your Creative Genius” written by coaches that I created, edited, and published. During our first Discovery Writing coaching session, she asked me to give her an outline. I refused. I explained that I rarely suggest using an outline at the start of writing. Too often, it limits the imagination. And indeed, I urged, with the topic of “Creative Intelligence,” locking an author into a specific outline seemed like a bad idea. I suggested her stream of consciousness writing. Don’t stop; just write un...

Writing Coach Near Me

The words you write come through your mind, but they originate in your heart. It is this heart center that becomes the channel through which your source, your god, your spirit, inspires you to share your messages. You become what my spiritual teacher refers to as the hollow bone that allows the message to be channeled. When you understand how to allow yourself to become the vessel, you will be guided by a force that will take you on journeys into the depths of your imagination. The key is in learning how to step out of your ego-brain and tap into that heart-centered source. When you can consistently do that, you will become a powerful writer. A true writer is driven to put their experience on paper. What holds the reader is your enthusiasm, your emotions, how it changed your life – what made you want to write in the first place. The source of all of what you convey through your writing is your connection to spirit, to your god, no matter how that appears for you in your life. One of my...
